Clients praise commercial acumen as firm maintains high Chambers ranking
ASA partners have once again been recognised in the UK Chambers Guide (“ranking the best law firms and lawyers”), with 2016’s edition ranking its partners and departments in top tiers.
The firm’s Corporate/M&A, Real Estate, Banking & Finance and Construction legal departments are recognised in the Guide, after its researchers interviewed clients and peers of firms across the UK.
Construction is newly listed in this year’s Guide after the arrival of our international construction partner, who is signified as a notable practitioner. Clients praise the commercial acumen of the department: "They have a very clear understanding of our commercial imperatives".
Steve Berry is once more ranked in the top tiers as a leading individual, with his corporate department again ranked as a favourite by clients and peers. Steve “leads the team brilliantly”.
Real estate, headed by leading individual Jon Geen, is ranked again in the top tiers, the department particularly noted for its “high-profile, large-scale commercial development projects…as well as affordable housing schemes”. Work highlights include advising Greenbank Partnerships regarding the proposed £500 million Cardiff International Sports Village redevelopment, and clients comment that "they have a very clear understanding of our commercial objectives and imperatives".
The banking & finance team maintains its ranking in the Guide’s top bands, the team being "well known for its work with borrowers and for its expertise on refinancing and development finance in the healthcare sector”. Clients commend the “first class” client service and “can-do attitude”, commenting that “they are experts across a range of different areas".
ASA partner Steve Berry said “We are delighted with these continued strong results, which demonstrate the close working relationship we build with our clients and the strength in depth across the whole team. We are particularly pleased to note that our recent successes in the banking and finance and construction sectors have been recognised. As a firm we have a proven track record of top level advice on large scale capital projects and this is reflected in the client and Chambers feedback".
